This mixed rice preparation is a combination of cooked rice with ripe &amp; juicy tomatoes and traditional Indian spices.\u00a0This great one-dish meal if needed can be served with pappads to make the dish more enjoyable to kids !!!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><b>Ingredients<\/b><\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li>Basmati Rice\u00a0: 1 cup<\/li>\n<li>Tomato\u00a0\u00a0: 3<\/li>\n<li>Green chilly\u00a0: 5-6<\/li>\n<li>Garlic\u00a0\u00a0:\u00a0 1pod<\/li>\n<li>Ginger\u00a0\u00a0: 1 Small piece<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric\u00a0: \u00bd tsp<\/li>\n<li>Water\u00a0\u00a0: 1and quarter cup<\/li>\n<li>Mint\u00a0\u00a0:\u00a0 One handful<\/li>\n<li>Onion\u00a0\u00a0:\u00a0 Half,\u00a0 sliced<\/li>\n<li>Cloves\u00a0\u00a0:\u00a0 2<\/li>\n<li>Cardamom\u00a0:\u00a0 2<\/li>\n<li>Bay leaf\u00a0\u00a0: 1<\/li>\n<li>Salt\u00a0\u00a0: As\u00a0 required<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>Method<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Soak the rice for 15-20 minutes<\/li>\n<li>Blend tomato green chilly, ginger, garlic, in a fine paste<\/li>\n<li>Pour 2tbs oil in a pressure cooker<\/li>\n<li>Add cardamom, clove, bay leaf , turmeric\u00a0 &amp; mint<\/li>\n<li>Put the sliced onion and stir it for 3 minutes<\/li>\n<li>Pour the tomato juice and stir until the mix become thick( will take about 10-15 mts)<\/li>\n<li>Add water, rice and salt<\/li>\n<li>Close the lid and wait for one whistle<\/li>\n<li>Switch off the stove (for gas stove, switch \u2013off after ~1 mnt after the whistle).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tomato Rice (\u0ba4\u0b95\u0bcd\u0b95\u0bbe\u0bb3\u0bbf \u0b9a\u0bbe\u0ba4\u0bae\u0bcd ) is a spicy and tasty rice preparation from the South Indian cuisines which is a quick fit for lunch box, for kids and elders.
