The doughnut shaped Uzhunnu vada (\u0d09\u0d34\u0d41\u0d28\u0d4d\u0d28\u0d41 \u0d35\u0d1f- \u0bae\u0bc7\u0b9f\u0bc1 \u0bb5\u0b9f\u0bc8) is perfect delight with coconut chutney. Also commonly served as an accompaniment with idli, for breakfast. \u00a0Its prepared with fine pasted urud dal (lentle) mixed with a few spices, fried in oil. \u00a0Shaping the Vada is a tricky part of the process, and may have some difficulty initially. I too had trouble initially to get the doughnut shape, but don\u2019t worry, you will get there with couple of tries (as I did).<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Lentle \u00a0OR Urud Dal (\u0d09\u0d34\u0d41\u0d28\u0d4d\u0d28\u0d41)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : \u00a01 cup<\/li>\n<li>Rice flour \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0: 1 Tbl sp<\/li>\n<li>Green chillies chopped \u00a0 \u00a0 : 3<\/li>\n<li>Curry leaves. \u00a0 \u00a0 : 2 strigs<\/li>\n<li>Onion chopped : \u00bc<\/li>\n<li>Salt to taste<\/li>\n<li>Oil for frying<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<figure id=\"attachment_620\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-620\" style=\"width: 634px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/DSC_0815.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-620\" alt=\"Ingredients\" src=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/DSC_0815.jpg\" width=\"634\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/DSC_0815.jpg 634w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/DSC_0815-300x227.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 634px) 100vw, 634px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-620\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ingredients<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h4>\u00a0<strong>Method<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Soak the Dal for 2 to 2 1\/2 hours<\/li>\n<li>Grind the dal in a very smooth paste in a Mixie, grinder or food processor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While grinding put very small quantity at a time if the mixie appears overloaded due to lack of enough water, sprinkle a few drops of water (only)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mix the ingredients 2 to 6 to the Dal very well.<\/li>\n<li>Keep a deep bottom pan on the stove<\/li>\n<li>Pour the enough oil for frying<\/li>\n<li>Once the oil is hot enough you can start shaping the Vada<\/li>\n<li>Wet your hands, take the ground mixture in a lemon size and make a circle shape.
