It\u2019s a crispy and medium-spice snack made out of coarse ground Channa Dal (\u0d15\u0d1f\u0d32 \u0d2a\u0d30\u0d3f\u0d2a\u0d4d\u0d2a\u0d4d\u00a0) added with a few spices, \u00a0&amp; fried -traditionally- in coconut oil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li>Channa Dal (\u0d15\u0d1f\u0d32 \u0d2a\u0d30\u0d3f\u0d2a\u0d4d\u0d2a\u0d4d\u00a0)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 1 cup<\/li>\n<li>Dry Red Chilli\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 3 or 4<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric powder\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : \u00bc T sp.<\/li>\n<li>Asafetida \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 1 pinch<\/li>\n<li>Curry leaves\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : A few<\/li>\n<li>Garlic with skin\u00a0\u00a0 :\u00a0 4 to 5 clove<\/li>\n<li>Onion chopped\u00a0 : \u00bc<\/li>\n<li>Rice Flour\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 1 Tbl Sp.<\/li>\n<li>Oil \u2013 for frying<\/li>\n<li>Salt to taste<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/DSC_0908.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-484\" src=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/DSC_0908.jpg\" alt=\"Ingredients\" width=\"640\" height=\"353\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/DSC_0908.jpg 640w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/DSC_0908-300x165.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Soak the channa dal along with chilli for 3 hours<\/li>\n<li>Keep aside 2 Table spoon channa daal\u00a0 ( for adding towards the final mix)<\/li>\n<li>Drain the water completely and make a coarse mix of the rest of the daal and chilli along with turmeric powder (see picture-1)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Make sure not to grind too much, only need to be crushed<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Crush the garlic and mix this with all ingredients (except oil), along with the reserved whole socked dal to the dal mix.<\/li>\n<li>With wet hand, make lemon size balls of the mix.<\/li>\n<li>Press each balls \u00a0with the palms to get to the shape of a disc ( as in\u00a0 picture)<\/li>\n<li>Heat oil in a deep pan, once the oil is hot to near boil, add the vada (3-10 \u00a0\u00a0vadas at a time depending on the pan size)<\/li>\n<li>Fry the vada on medium heat, flipping the vada in between, till it becomes crispy and golden brown in color.<\/li>\n<li>Drain the oil and move the cooked \u2018Vada\u2019s to a paper \/ paper towel.<\/li>\n<li>Serve hot along with Tea<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/PVDA-Steps.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-464\" src=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/PVDA-Steps.jpg\" alt=\"Steps\" width=\"640\" height=\"331\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/PVDA-Steps.jpg 640w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/PVDA-Steps-300x155.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Parippuvada (\u0d2a\u0d30\u0d3f\u0d2a\u0d4d\u0d2a\u0d41 \u0d35\u0d1f) , I would say, is the most popular tea time snack of Kerala.
