Its is very popular in high quality sea food recipes because of its white flesh and non-fishy flavor. Black and white pomfrets are very common in sea-food markets and both tastes pretty much the same. I used fresh black Pomfret from farmers market for this preparation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>Black pomfret &nbsp;&nbsp; : 2 \u00bd Lbs<\/li><li>Coconut oil &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; : 2 \u00bd T- Sp.<\/li><li>ginger &nbsp; : 1 inch<\/li><li>Garlic &nbsp;&nbsp; : 5 cloves<\/li><li>Pearl onion &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; : 2<\/li><li>Green chilly &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; : 4 (Adjust)<\/li><li>Curry leaves<\/li><li>Salt for taste<\/li><li>Pepper powder : \u00bd T-Sp.<\/li><li>Tomato : 1 (small )<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Garcinia_gummi-gutta\">Malabar Tamarind<\/a> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; : 4 pieces ( Adjust)<\/li><li>Water &nbsp; : 3 cup<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>For roasting:-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>Grated coconut &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; : 2 \u00bc Cups<\/li><li>Curry leaves<\/li><li>Fenugreek seeds &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; : \u00bc T-Sp.<\/li><li>Coriander powder &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; : 2 \u00bd Tbl \u2013 Sp.<\/li><li>Chilly powder &nbsp;&nbsp; : 2 Tbl- Sp. ( Adjust)<\/li><li>Turmeric powder &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; : \u00bd T-Sp.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Soak the Tamarind and keep it aside.<\/li><li>Clean the fish, skin off and make medium size pieces.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Avoli_Curry1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4459\" width=\"511\" height=\"366\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Avoli_Curry1.jpg 591w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Avoli_Curry1-300x214.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Avoli_Curry1-150x107.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 511px) 100vw, 511px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Heat a kadai\/pan, add grated coconut and fry till it turns to golden brown in color, add a bit of coconut oil if needed.<\/li><li>Then add the fenugreek seeds along with chilly powder, coriander powder, curry leaves and turmeric powder &amp; Don&#8217;t use spoon to mix the curry.<\/li><li>Finally add the pepper powder, curry leaves and 1 T-Sp coconut oil and rotate the pan.<\/li><li>Switch off the stove and keep the curry for another 30 minutes before serving.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Tips:-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"I\"><li>Quantity of Oil , chilly powder, green chilly and pepper powder may adjust to individual taste.<\/li><li>Can use normal tamarind or malabar tamarind ( kudampuli) for this recipe.<\/li><li>It\u2019s a semi thick curry, so adjust the water quantity.
