I tag this one to the healthy diet category because of its well-known health benefits. <strong>Papayas<\/strong>\u00a0contain an enzyme called papain that aids digestion and also high in fiber and water content, both of which help to prevent constipation and promote regularity and a healthy digestive tract.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Green papaya : 1 \u00bd Lbs<\/li>\n<li>Salt for taste<\/li>\n<li>Mustard seeds : \u00bd T- Sp<\/li>\n<li>Oil : 2 T- Sp (Adjust)<\/li>\n<li>Red chillies : 3<\/li>\n<li>Chopped pearl onion : 1 Tbl-Sp<\/li>\n<li>Curry leaves<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>For masala<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Coconut : 1 \u00bd cup (Adjust)<\/li>\n<li>Jeera : \u00bc T- Sp<\/li>\n<li>Garlic : 1 cloves<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric powder : \u00bd T- Sp<\/li>\n<li>Green chillies : 3<\/li>\n<li>Curry leaves : 1 sprig<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chop the papaya into small pieces (may use a food chopper).<\/li>\n<li>In a mixer, add all the ingredients mentioned for <strong>masala <\/strong>and pulse it for a second (we need a coarse masala) and keep it aside.<\/li>\n<li>Heat oil in a pan\/kadai, add the mustard seeds followed by red chilli, pearl onions and curry leaves and fry it.<\/li>\n<li>Add the papaya pieces and salt, stir it.<\/li>\n<li>Close the lid and cook the papaya, stir it in between.<\/li>\n<li>If you see the papaya is dry\/not cooked sprinkle some water and close the lid and cook it.<\/li>\n<li>Once it is cooked well, add the ground masala and stir it for about a minute or until the raw smells goes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Papaya thoran\u00a0is a traditionally a simple Kerala side dish recipe, that goes well with rice which can be made easily and faster.
