This semi thick gravy style Chicken Curry is served as a perfect accompaniment in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/pidiyum-kozhiyum\/\">Kozhiyum Pidiyum<\/a>\u00a0(\u0d15\u0d4b\u0d34\u0d3f\u0d2f\u0d41\u0d02 \u0d2a\u0d3f\u0d1f\u0d3f\u0d2f\u0d41\u0d02) preparation, that is very common in Knanaya Christian Cuisine.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients <\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Chicken \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 3.5 Lb (cut to medium pieces)<\/li>\n<li>Chopped onion \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 4 Cup<\/li>\n<li>Chopped pearl onion : 1 Cup<\/li>\n<li>Chopped tomato : 2 (Medium)<\/li>\n<li>Green chilly : 4<\/li>\n<li>Ginger paste : 1.5 T- Sp<\/li>\n<li>Garlic paste : 1 Tbl &#8211; Sp<\/li>\n<li>Coconut \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 1 Cup<\/li>\n<li>Fennel seeds : \u00bd T- Sp<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Thin coconut milk : 1 Cup<\/li>\n<li>Thick coconut milk : 1 Cup<\/li>\n<li>Coriander powder : 4 T- Sp<\/li>\n<li>Chilly Powder : 2 Tbl -Sp(Adjust)<\/li>\n<li>Pepper powder : 1 T- sp<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric powder : \u00bd T- Sp<\/li>\n<li>Garam masala : \u00bd T- Sp<\/li>\n<li>Oil \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 2 Tbl- Sp (Adjust)<\/li>\n<li>Salt for taste<\/li>\n<li>Curry leaves<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>For Masala<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Fennel seeds : 1 T- Sp<\/li>\n<li>Cinnamon \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 1 small piece<\/li>\n<li>Cardamom \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 3<\/li>\n<li>Cloves \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 3<\/li>\n<li>Star anise : \u00bd petal<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In a pan\/kadai roast the coconut along with \u00bd T- Sp fennel seeds until golden color.<\/li>\n<li>Grind the roasted coconut in to a fine paste, use enough water for grinding.<\/li>\n<li>Heat oil in a pan\/ earthen pot and add all the ingredients mentioned for masala and let it splutter.<\/li>\n<li>Then add the chopped onion, pearl onion and salt; saut\u00e9 it till the onions are brown.<\/li>\n<li>Then add green chilli along with ginger and garlic paste, saut\u00e9 it for about 1 minute or until the raw smell is gone.<\/li>\n<li>Add the coriander powder along with chilli powder, turmeric powder and pepper powder.<\/li>\n<li>Fry it for about 1 minute, add chopped tomatoes and cook it until the tomatoes are completely smashed.<\/li>\n<li>Now add the chicken pieces and saut\u00e9 it about 1 minute and add 1 cup of thin milk and let it boil.<\/li>\n<li>Check the salt, add if needed. Then close the lid and cook it.
