Vazhakkai (Green banana) \u2013 Chena (elephant yam)\u00a0Mezhukkupuratti is the first one to go in to this category. The blend of these vegetable with coconut pieces in the saut\u00e9 style preparation make this dish a perfect accompaniment for boiled rice.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients <\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Chena\/elephant yam : 2 Cup<\/li>\n<li>Green banana\/vazhaykka : 1 Cup<\/li>\n<li>Coconut slices : \u00bd Cup<\/li>\n<li>Chopped onion : \u00bd Cup<\/li>\n<li>Crushed garlic : 2 cloves<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric powder : \u00bd T- Sp<\/li>\n<li>Chilli powder : \u00bd T- Sp<\/li>\n<li>Dried red chilli : 4 (Adjust)<\/li>\n<li>Salt for taste<\/li>\n<li>Oil : 2 Tbl- Sp (Adjust)<\/li>\n<li>Curry leaves<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cut the green banana &amp; elephant yam to square pieces.<\/li>\n<li>In a pan add yam along with coconut pieces, salt, turmeric powder and a half cup of water; close the lid and boil it.<\/li>\n<li>Once it is boiled well, add the raw banana piece; close the lid and cook it (make sure not to overcook, ie , the pieces should be separate). If there is any extra water, drain it and keep it.<\/li>\n<li>Heat oil in a pan add the dried red chilli and fry it.<\/li>\n<li>Then add the onion along with the garlic and saut\u00e9 it until translucent.<\/li>\n<li>Now add the cooked veggies and fry it.
