As like other roast recipes from Kerala cuisine, this can be served as a starter\/&#8221;touchings&#8221; \u00a0on appropriate occasions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>For frying<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Shrimp \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 1 lb<\/li>\n<li>Chilli Powder : 1 Tbl- sp<\/li>\n<li>Pepper powder : 1 T-sp<\/li>\n<li>Ginger garlic paste : 1 T- Sp<\/li>\n<li>Crushed Garlic : 5 cloves<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric powder : \u00bc T- Sp<\/li>\n<li>Salt for taste<\/li>\n<li>Oil for frying<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>For masala<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Chopped Onion : 2 (Big)<\/li>\n<li>Chopped green chilli : 3<\/li>\n<li>Crushed Garlic : 8 ( Adjust)<\/li>\n<li>Crushed Ginger : 1 inch<\/li>\n<li>ChillI powder : 1 Tbl- Sp (Adjust)<\/li>\n<li>Pepper powder : \u00bd T- Sp<\/li>\n<li>Fennel powder : \u00bc T- Sp<\/li>\n<li>Garam masala : \u00bd T- Sp<\/li>\n<li>Salt for taste<\/li>\n<li>Curry leaves<\/li>\n<li>Oil : 3 Tbl \u2013 Sp (Adjust)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Clean and de-vein the shrimp.<\/li>\n<li>Marinate the shrimp with the ingredients mentioned for frying (except oil) and keep it aside for about half an hour in refrigerator.<\/li>\n<li>Then heat enough oil for frying and deep fry the shrimp and keep it aside.<\/li>\n<li>Heat oil in a pan\/ use the same pan using the left over oil and saut\u00e9 the onion along with a little salt, ginger, garlic and green chilli.<\/li>\n<li>Fry it till the onions turns brown, then add chilli powder, pepper powder, fennel powder and saut\u00e9 it till the raw smell goes.<\/li>\n<li>Add the fried shrimp and stir it for a minute, check the salt &#8211; close the lid and cook for another 2 minutes, Make sure to stir in-between to avoid sticking to the bottom of the pan.<\/li>\n<li>Finally add the garam masala and curry leaves.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/chemmeen-shrimp-roast\/chmnrst\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3558\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3558\" src=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ChmnRst.jpg\" alt=\"chmnrst\" width=\"800\" height=\"266\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ChmnRst.jpg 800w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ChmnRst-150x50.jpg 150w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ChmnRst-300x100.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Tips:-<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a spicy dish, so adjust the chilli powder and pepper powder to your taste.<\/li>\n<li>Crush the garlic with skin, that will give more flavor and taste.<\/li>\n<li>It will need more oil for saut\u00e9 , use the same oil \/same pan for the masala.<\/li>\n<li>Use coconut oil for the authentic taste.<\/li>\n<\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A spicy dish in authentic Kerala Style with \u00a0chemmen (prawns) in well balanced flavors, \u00a0Chemmen Roast (\u0d15\u0d4a\u0d1e\u0d4d\u0d1a\u0d4d \/\u0d1a\u0d46\u0d2e\u0d4d\u0d2e\u0d40\u0d7b \u0d09\u0d32\u0d7c\u0d24\u0d4d\u0d24\u0d3f\u0d2f\u0d24\u0d4d ) goes well with Kerala Boiled Rice and\/or other main course dishes like chapattis or parotta.
