The dish is well known as a handy side dish option for bachelors during hostel life. Made by blending dry netholi (can be any dried fish- but netholi gets that authentic flavor) with ground coconut and a few masala ingredients.\u00a0 This chutney can be preserved for at least 2-3 weeks outside refrigerator.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Unakka nethoili (pre-cleaned) : 200 Gm<\/li>\n<li>Coconut : 3 Cup<\/li>\n<li>Pepper cones : 2 Tbl-Sp<\/li>\n<li>Dried red chilli : 20 (Adjust)<\/li>\n<li>Curry leaves : 2 sprigs<\/li>\n<li>Tamarind : small lemon size (Adjust)<\/li>\n<li>Salt for taste<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/dry-netholi-chutney\/dried-netholi\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3444\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3444\" src=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Dried-Netholi.jpg\" alt=\"Dried-Netholi\" width=\"482\" height=\"297\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Dried-Netholi.jpg 482w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Dried-Netholi-150x92.jpg 150w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Dried-Netholi-300x185.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 482px) 100vw, 482px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dry roast the netholi, until crispy; keep it aside.<\/li>\n<li>Heat a pan and add the coconut along with pepper-cones and roast it till golden brown.<\/li>\n<li>Once the coconut is getting brown, add the dried red chillies and curry leaves; fry it till golden brown.<\/li>\n<li>Take the coconut from the pan and allow it cool completely.<\/li>\n<li>keep the roasted netholi into a mixer and make powder &#8211; not too fine; keep it in a bowl.<\/li>\n<li>Then add the coconut along with tamarind and salt and make a coarse powder.<\/li>\n<li>Now add the coconut mixture into the netholi powder and mix it well with a spoon\/hand.<\/li>\n<li>Finally add all these into the mixer and pulse it about 2-3 seconds for getting everything even.<\/li>\n<li>Store the chutney powder in an airtight container .<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/dry-netholi-chutney\/nethchutney\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3440\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3440\" src=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/NethChutney.jpg\" alt=\"NethChutney\" width=\"771\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/NethChutney.jpg 771w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/NethChutney-150x117.jpg 150w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/NethChutney-300x233.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 771px) 100vw, 771px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dried Nethili\/smelt-fish (karuvadu)\u00a0Chammanthi podi (dry Chutney)\u00a0is one of the tastiest preservable side dish for fish lovers.
