Recipe here is that of authentic style Achinga Payar thoran prepared with coconut masala.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Long beans : 2 lb<\/li>\n<li>Chopped onion : 1 big<\/li>\n<li>Coconut \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 : 2 Cup (Adjust)<\/li>\n<li>Jeera \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 : \u00a0\u00bd T- Sp<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric powder \u00a0: \u00bd T- Sp<\/li>\n<li>Green chilli : 5 (adjust)<\/li>\n<li>Garlic cloves : 3<\/li>\n<li>Oil \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0: 5 Tbl- Sp(adjust)<\/li>\n<li>Mustard seeds : 1 T- Sp<\/li>\n<li>Curry leaves few<\/li>\n<li>Deied red chilly : 4 (adjust)<\/li>\n<li>Salt for taste<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/long-beans-thoran\/long-beans\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3374\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3374\" src=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/long_beansp2s.jpg\" alt=\"JPEG Pro\" width=\"640\" height=\"378\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/long_beansp2s.jpg 640w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/long_beansp2s-150x89.jpg 150w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/long_beansp2s-300x177.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chop the long beans into small pieces and keep it aside.<\/li>\n<li>Grind the coconut along with jeera, garlic, turmeric powder and green chilly into a coarse mixture (pulse it for about 5 second).<\/li>\n<li>Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds; add the red chilly and fry it.<\/li>\n<li>Add the chopped onion and a little salt ;\u00a0saute it until soft.<\/li>\n<li>Add the long beans and saute it for a minute.<\/li>\n<li>Then close the lid and cook it.\u00a0Open the lid and stir it in a frequent interval to avoid sticking in the pan.\u00a0If it is too dry sprinkle some water.<\/li>\n<li>Once the long beans is done (don\u2019t overcook the it) add the coconut mixture in the center and close it about 1 minute.<\/li>\n<li>Then add salt and mix everything very well.<\/li>\n<li>Add the curry leaves and stir it properly for about 50 seconds and take it out.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/long-beans-thoran\/bt1\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3372\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3372\" src=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/BT1.jpg\" alt=\"BT1\" width=\"678\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/BT1.jpg 678w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/BT1-150x133.jpg 150w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/BT1-300x265.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 678px) 100vw, 678px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Tips:-<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Typical cooking time for beans is ~15 min, may vary with beans type.<\/li>\n<li>More Coconut and coconut oil will give the dish more taste.<\/li>\n<li>Instead of green chilli, can add chilly powder .<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Long Beans (Achinga Payar)\u00a0is a common beans variety in Kerala garden vegetables.
