The typical consistency of this preparation is a thick gravy, making it ideal for going as a side dish with typical Indian breads and for boiled rice.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Cut Beans : 4 Cup<\/li>\n<li>Coconut oil : 1 T-sp<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>For channa:<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Kabuli Chana : 1 Cup<\/li>\n<li>Salt for taste<\/li>\n<li>Water for cooking<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>For grinding:<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Grated Coconut : 1.5 Cup<\/li>\n<li>Jeera : 1 T- sp<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric : \u00bd T- sp<\/li>\n<li>Garlic cloves : 2<\/li>\n<li>Dried red chilli : 6 (adjust)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>For seasoning:<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Mustard seeds : \u00bd T- sp<\/li>\n<li>Dried red chilli : 3<\/li>\n<li>Curry leaves<\/li>\n<li>Oil : 2 T- sp<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Soak the chana for about 5-6 hours.<\/li>\n<li>Pressure cook the chana adding enough water to cover the chana and salt; cook it for about 3-4 whistle\/ until soft. Don\u2019t overcook. Don\u2019t drain the excess water.<\/li>\n<li>Grind the ingredients for grinding to a coarse mixture (little more than thoran\/poriyal), use some water for grinding.<\/li>\n<li>Heat a pan, add the oil and splutter the mustard seeds. Then fry the red chilli and add the curry leaves.<\/li>\n<li>Then add the cut beans, along with a little salt at this point and saute it for a minute; add \u00bd cup of water and close the lid and cook it .<\/li>\n<li>Open the lid and stir in regular intervals, add more water as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Once beans is half done add the cooked chana along with the water and close it; cook for another 1 minute .<\/li>\n<li>Then add the ground masala and close it and cook it until the beans are getting soft.<\/li>\n<li>Open the lid and mix well and check the salt , add if needed.<\/li>\n<li>Add 1 T- sp of coconut oil and mix, then take it out from the stove.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/beans-chana-masala\/bcm\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3272\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3272\" src=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/BCM.jpg\" alt=\"BCM\" width=\"640\" height=\"214\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/BCM.jpg 640w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/BCM-150x50.jpg 150w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/BCM-300x100.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tips:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The consistency of the dish is like a thick gravy (not a dry dish like thoran) . I used 1.5 cup of water including grinding and the water from the cooked channa.<\/li>\n<li>With 1 cup kabuli-chana you will get 2 \u00bc cup cooked chana.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t forgot to add 1 T- sp coconut oil before switch off the stove, that will give the dish more taste &amp; aroma.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A tasty blend of Kabuli chana (white kadala) and cut beans prepared with coconut masala&#8230;&#8230;.
