Here is another delicious way of preparing, Kappa-meat biryani typical in Kerala Christian Cuisines. \u00a0In this recipeTapioca\/Kappa cooked, mashed and combined with meat, masala and seasoned with spices to serve as a single dish meal.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>For kappa:<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Tapioca \/kappa : 1 kg<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric powder : \u00bd T- sp<\/li>\n<li>Salt for taste<\/li>\n<li>Water for cooking the tapioca<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>For Meat:<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Beef : \u00bd kg<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric powder : \u00bc T- sp<\/li>\n<li>Chilli powder : \u00bd T-Sp<\/li>\n<li>Ginger \u2013Garlic paste : 2 T-sp<\/li>\n<li>Garam masala : \u00bc T-sp<\/li>\n<li>Sliced onions : 2 (medium)<\/li>\n<li>Sliced green chilli : 2<\/li>\n<li>Oil : 1 Tbl-sp<\/li>\n<li>Curry leaves<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>For grinding:<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Coconut : 1.5 Cup<\/li>\n<li>Coriander seeds : 2 Tbl- sp<\/li>\n<li>Red chilli : 10(adjust)<\/li>\n<li>Pepper cone : \u00a01 T- sp<\/li>\n<li>Cardamom : 2<\/li>\n<li>Cloves : 2<\/li>\n<li>Cinnamon stick : \u00bc inch<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cook the kappa in the pressure cooker, add enough water to cover the kappa along with turmeric and enough salt, cook it for 1 whistle or until soft.<\/li>\n<li>Drain the water and smash it, (I didn\u2019t smash it too much since we love some chunks), keep it aside for later use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/kappa-biriyani\/kb2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3235\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3235\" src=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/KB2.jpg\" alt=\"KB2\" width=\"640\" height=\"425\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/KB2.jpg 640w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/KB2-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/KB2-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In a pan, add the coconut along with coriander seeds, cardamom and cloves; roast it until golden brown.<\/li>\n<li>Add the red chilli ~5 minutes before switching off the stove and fry it.<\/li>\n<li>Allow it to cool completely and grind it into smooth paste (add enough water for making the paste).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/kappa-biriyani\/kb1\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3237\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3237\" src=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/KB1.jpg\" alt=\"KB1\" width=\"640\" height=\"422\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/KB1.jpg 640w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/KB1-150x99.jpg 150w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/KB1-300x198.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the pressure cooker, add oil and fry the onion along with ginger-garlic paste and green chilli until brown in color.<\/li>\n<li>Then add the chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala and enough salt and pressure cook the beef for about 6 whistles or until cooked.<\/li>\n<li>Open the cooker, add the ground masala along with a cup of water and give a good boil.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/kappa-biriyani\/kb3\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3238\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3238\" src=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/KB3.jpg\" alt=\"KB3\" width=\"516\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/KB3.jpg 516w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/KB3-150x140.jpg 150w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/KB3-300x279.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 516px) 100vw, 516px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reduce the flame into low and add the smashed tapioca little at a time and mix well.<\/li>\n<li>Mix everything together and cook it for another 1 minute, the consistency should be semi-liquid ( not watery or thick \u2013 but consistency may be varied according to individual taste).<\/li>\n<li>Switch off the stove and add the curry leaves and give a final mixing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tips:<\/p>\n<p>Adjust the quantity of oil and coconut to your taset<\/p>\n<p>Use coconut oil for traditional taste.<\/p>\n<p>Use pearl onions instead of big onion for traditional taste.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have shared a few alternate Kappa-Yuca \/Cassava recipes in my previous blogs.
