Kanjiyum Payarum<\/strong><\/em> an enrichment for the \u201ckanji\u201d is the simplest and balanced dinner course for Keralites. The preparation is very common as a dinner serving for its benefit of quicker digestion. \u00a0Its also accompanied with papad and\/or pickle.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Kuthari\u00a0(Brown Rice) : \u00be Cup<\/li>\n<li>Moong dal\u00a0 : \u00bc Cup<\/li>\n<li>Grated coconut\u00a0 : 1 Cup<\/li>\n<li>Water\u00a0 : \u00a08 Cups<\/li>\n<li>Salt for taste<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wash the rice, in a pressure cooker cook it with 3 cups of water for 4 whistles.<\/li>\n<li>Switch off the stove and rest the cooker for releasing the pressure.<\/li>\n<li>Oen the cooker and add the washed dal along with 3cup of water.<\/li>\n<li>Again cook it for another 4 whistles and switch off the stove.<\/li>\n<li>Once the pressure released, open the lid.<\/li>\n<li>In a bowl add 2 cup of water along with coconut and mix it with hands (for squeezing to get some milk).<\/li>\n<li>Then add the coconut mixture along with enough salt and let it boil until bubbles coming.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/kanjiyum-payarum\/kanji1\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3087\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3087\" src=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Kanji1.jpg\" alt=\"Kanji1\" width=\"640\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Kanji1.jpg 640w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Kanji1-150x59.jpg 150w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Kanji1-300x117.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tips :-<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Here I used split green moong dal; you may alter it with whole green moong dal.<\/li>\n<li>Cooking time may vary the brand of ingredients and the stove capability.<\/li>\n<li>May use normal big pan or rice cooker instead of pressure cooker.<\/li>\n<li>Adjust the quantity of coconut to your preference; more coconut will give more taste.<\/li>\n<li>Water quantity also may be varied for consistency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cKanji\u201d \u2013 well cooked rice served in thick salted rice juice used to be the traditional energy boosted to the working class in Kerala.
