{"id":3068,"date":"2015-12-12T22:23:25","date_gmt":"2015-12-13T06:23:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/?p=3068"},"modified":"2015-12-12T22:26:48","modified_gmt":"2015-12-13T06:26:48","slug":"kappa-kottayam-style","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/kappa-kottayam-style\/","title":{"rendered":"Kappa : Kottayam Style"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/kappa-kottayam-style\/kappa-kottayam-style\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3070\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3070\" src=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Kappa-Kottayam-Style.jpg\" alt=\"Kappa-Kottayam Style\" width=\"640\" height=\"415\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Kappa-Kottayam-Style.jpg 640w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Kappa-Kottayam-Style-150x97.jpg 150w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Kappa-Kottayam-Style-300x195.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tapioca (\u0d15\u0d2a\u0d4d\u0d2a \/\u0d1a\u0d40\u0d28\u0d3f) \u00a0is a very popular main course dish, used to be inexpensive replacement for rice.\u00a0 I have shared multiple Kerala style tapioca dishes in this blog. \u00a0Here is another one to add to the category, this time the traditional Kottayam Christian cuisine style. \u00a0The richness of coconut masala makes this preparation very special and as usual a perfect delight when served with spicy fish masala.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Tapioca pieces\u00a0 : 1 kg<\/li>\n<li>Coconut : 1 Cup<\/li>\n<li>Jeera : \u00be T-sp<\/li>\n<li>Green chilly : 6 (adjust)<\/li>\n<li>Chopped garlic\u00a0 : 1 T-sp<\/li>\n<li>Chopped Shallots : 1 Tbl-sp<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric powder : \u00bd T-sp<\/li>\n<li>Salt for taste<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>For seasoning:<\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"9\">\n<li>Mustard seeds : \u00bd T-sp<\/li>\n<li>Red chilly : \u00a04-5<\/li>\n<li>Chopped onion : \u00bc Cup<\/li>\n<li>Chopped Garlic : 1 \u00bd T-sp<\/li>\n<li>Coconut oil : 1 Tbl-sp<\/li>\n<li>Curry leaves<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I used frozen tapioca pieces; thaw it in according to packet instructions.<\/li>\n<li>Wash it well and cook it ina pressure cooker with enough water (water should cover the tapioca) &#8211; cook it for one whistle.<\/li>\n<li>Switch off the stove and let the pressure release from the\u00a0cooker.<\/li>\n<li>Drain the water and keep it aside.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/kappa-kottayam-style\/kappaks1\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3092\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3092\" src=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/KappaKS1.jpg\" alt=\"KappaKS1\" width=\"640\" height=\"404\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/KappaKS1.jpg 640w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/KappaKS1-150x95.jpg 150w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/KappaKS1-300x189.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Add coconut along with jeera , pearl onions , garlic , green chilli and turmeric powder and make a coarse mixture.<\/li>\n<li>Add this into the tapioca along with salt and smash well with a smasher or the back of a ladle.<\/li>\n<li>In a kadai\/pan pour the coconut oil and splutter the mustard seeds; then fry the red chilli in it .<\/li>\n<li>Add the chopped onion along with the garlic and fry it until brown.
