The word\u00a0<em>garam<\/em>\u00a0refers to &#8220;heat&#8221; in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ayurvedic\">Ayurvedic<\/a>\u00a0sense of the word, meaning &#8220;to heat the body&#8221; as these spices, in the Ayurvedic system of medicine, elevate body temperature.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Fennel seeds (\u0d2a\u0d47\u0d30\u0d41\u0d02 \u0d1c\u0d40\u0d30\u0d15\u0d02) : \u00bd cup<\/li>\n<li>Cloves (\u0d17\u0d4d\u0d30\u0d3e\u0d2e\u0d4d\u0d2a\u0d41)\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 50<\/li>\n<li>Cardamom(\u0d0f\u0d32\u0d15\u0d4d\u0d15) \u00a0 \u00a0: 50<\/li>\n<li>Star anise (\u0d24\u0d15\u0d4d\u0d15\u0d4b\u0d32\u0d02) : 2<\/li>\n<li>Cinnamon(\u0d2a\u0d1f\u0d4d\u0d1f) : 2<\/li>\n<li>Peppercorns(\u0d15\u0d41\u0d30\u0d41\u0d2e\u0d41\u0d33\u0d15\u0d4d) : 1 \u00bd T-sp<\/li>\n<li>Bay leaves (\u0d35\u0d2f\u0d23 \u0d07\u0d32) : 2<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Method:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In a dry pan\/ Kadai add the fennel seeds and dry roast it for about 3 minutes in a low &#8211; medium flame, until you get the nice aroma of the fennel.<\/li>\n<li>Take it out and keep it in a plate.<\/li>\n<li>Then add the other ingredients together and roast it for about 2 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Take it out and keep it in the plate.<\/li>\n<li>Allow it to cool completely and then make a fine powder.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tips:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The mix can be preserved for 3-4 months.<\/li>\n<li>Use airtight container and always use dry spoon to take the masala.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here is a quick Garam Masala (Indian spice) mix recipe to go in to my Masala Mix Category.Garam masala\u00a0is a\u00a0blend of ground spices\u00a0common in\u00a0Indian cuisines. \u00a0It is used alone or with other seasonings in multiple side &amp; main dish recipes.
