{"id":2872,"date":"2015-07-12T17:09:12","date_gmt":"2015-07-13T01:09:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/?p=2872"},"modified":"2016-11-01T19:13:33","modified_gmt":"2016-11-02T03:13:33","slug":"kinnathappam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/kinnathappam\/","title":{"rendered":"Kinnathappam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/kinnathappam\/kinnathappam1\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3480\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3480\" src=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Kinnathappam11.jpg\" alt=\"Kinnathappam1\" width=\"640\" height=\"412\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Kinnathappam11.jpg 640w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Kinnathappam11-150x97.jpg 150w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Kinnathappam11-300x193.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A Muslim festival dish recipe to go on this auspicious occasion of Ramadan! \u00a0Kinnathappam (\u00a0\u0d15\u0d3f\u0d23\u0d4d\u0d23\u0d24\u0d4d\u0d24\u0d2a\u0d4d\u0d2a\u0d02) is a steamed rice-coconut milk pudding, sweetened with Jaggery, typically served in Northern- Malabar region during iftar dinner. \u00a0\u00a0The name Kinnathappam is because it is made in a &#8220;Kinnam- \u0d15\u0d3f\u0d23\u0d4d\u0d23\u0d02&#8221; meaning bowl.\u00a0The process of preparation is long and requires bit of patience.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Raw rice\u00a0 : 1.5 Cup<\/li>\n<li>Jaggery \u00a0 : 2.5 Cup adjust<\/li>\n<li>Water \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0: 1.5 Cup<\/li>\n<li>Thick coconut milk : 1 Cup<\/li>\n<li>Jeera powder : A pinch (adjust)<\/li>\n<li>Thin coconut milk : 1.5 Cup<\/li>\n<li>Coconut pieces : 3 Tbl -sp adjust<\/li>\n<li>Ghee : 1 Tbl &#8211; sp\u00a0(adjust)<\/li>\n<li>Raisins, nuts (of your choice)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Soak the rice 5-6 hours.<\/li>\n<li>In a mixie\/ blender add the rice with enough thin coconut milk and make a fine paste.<\/li>\n<li>In a pan, add the jaggery along with 1.5 cup water and boil it.<\/li>\n<li>Once the jaggery is melted completely, take it out from the stove and allow it cool completely and then filter it.<\/li>\n<li>Now mix the rice paste, coconut milk (thick and remaining thin) along with jaggery syrup.<\/li>\n<li>In a pan\/kadai (preferably nonstick), add the ghee and fry the coconut pieces, raisins and nuts.<\/li>\n<li>Take it out and keep it for later use.<\/li>\n<li>Add the rice coconut mixture into the same Kadai and stir it in low flame.
