It is coated with sesame seeds on the outside to give the crispiness. Some varieties of Jian Dui come with hollow inner part without any filling. The recipe I share here uses filling with a tasty mix of sugar and lentil.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>For 12 to 14 Balls<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Oil for frying<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>For outer layer :-<\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Glutinous rice flour\u00a0 :\u00a01.5 Cups<\/li>\n<li>Sugar \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0: 3 Tbl-sp (adjust)<\/li>\n<li>Warm water for kneading the dough : ~ \u00bd cup ( + adjust)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>For Filling:<\/em>&#8211;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>Moong dal \u00a0 \u00a0 : \u00a01\/2 Cup<\/li>\n<li>Coconut \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 : \u00a01\/4 Cup<\/li>\n<li>Sugar \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0: \u00a01\/4 Cup adjust<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>For covering :-<\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li>Sesame seeds \u00a0 : 1\/2 Cup adjust<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dilute the sugar ( listed for outer layer) into the warm water.<\/li>\n<li>In a bowl add the glutinous rice flour and pour the sugar water a little at a time\u00a0into the flour and make a soft and non-sticky dough.<\/li>\n<li>Keep it for about 15 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Now cook the moong dal until soft, but not smushy .<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">Drain the water completely (ensure no water left)<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Add sugar, coconut and smash it to a thick paste.<\/li>\n<li>Make medium size of balls with the paste, for filling.<\/li>\n<li>Take a small portion of rice flour and flatten it with your fingers and add the moong dal filling ball and seal it without any cracks.
