Mushrooms are very low in carbohydrates and are a good source of protein, as a good alternative to meat. The recipe here is a common Kerala preparation of mushrooms with coconut.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Mushrooms (washed and cut to pieces) : 700 g<\/li>\n<li>Onion (big- chopped to small pieces)\u00a0 : 1<\/li>\n<li>Green chilly (chopped) : 5<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric powder : \u00bc T-sp<\/li>\n<li>Coconut : 1 cup<\/li>\n<li>Salt for taste<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>For tempering:-<\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li>Mustard seeds : \u00bd Tsp<\/li>\n<li>Dried red chilli : 3<\/li>\n<li>Oil : 2 T-sp<\/li>\n<li>Curry leaves<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In a kadai\/ pan pour the oil and add the mustard seeds and let it splutter , then add the red chilli and fry it.<\/li>\n<li>Add the onion along with green chilli and fry it till onions turns translucent.<\/li>\n<li>Add the mushroom and turmeric powder and mix everything well it.<\/li>\n<li>Add salt and cook the mushroom without the lid on (mix it often).
