It is a popular sweet cum snack recipe which is equally liked by kids as well as elders. Nankhatai is popular as a tea time snack and is easily available in most bakery and tea shops, with variations from place to place in preparation. In this recipe I used a standard recipe, which is mostly followed.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><b>Ingredients<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>All-purpose flour ( maida)\u00a0\u00a0 : 1 cup<\/li>\n<li>Butter \/ ghee\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : \u00bd cup<\/li>\n<li>Sugar (powdered)\u00a0\u00a0 : \u00bd cup<\/li>\n<li>Baking soda\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : A pinch<\/li>\n<li>Cardamom (powdered)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 2 (Optional)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>Method<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mix the butter, sugar and cardamom to a creamy texture.<\/li>\n<li>In a bowl add the flour and cooking soda . Mix the flour for getting the baking soda evenly.<\/li>\n<li>Pour the butter mixture into the flour a little at a time.<\/li>\n<li>Mix the flour with your finger to looks like bread crumbs.<\/li>\n<li>Then make smooth dough with adding enough butter mixture.<\/li>\n<li>Keep it for an hour \/ more.<\/li>\n<li>Take a baking dish and put a greased parchment \/ wax paper.<\/li>\n<li>Divide the dough into 13 equal\u00a0 parts.<\/li>\n<li>Press the top of each ball and slightly flatten it (May make a decorative cross on top with a knife at this point)<\/li>\n<li>Place it in the cookie sheet; make sure to give some gap in between.<\/li>\n<li>Preheat the oven at 350F.<\/li>\n<li>Bake it for 18-20 minutes or until cookies are lightly golden brown.<\/li>\n<li>Cool it completely to serve.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/butter-cookies\/p2s_bcs\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1556\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1556\" alt=\"P2S_BCS\" src=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/P2S_BCS.jpg\" width=\"548\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/P2S_BCS.jpg 548w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/P2S_BCS-300x262.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 548px) 100vw, 548px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tips :-<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">If you use normal sugar, powder the sugar along with cardamom ( I used off-the-shelf, powdered sugar).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">If you don\u2019t like cardamom flavor you may \u00a0avoid it.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">Don&#8217;t use water for kneading the dough.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">Quantity of sugar may be varied to individual taste.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">Don&#8217;t over-brown the cookies.
