The spice-heat in this dish comes from Pepper which is the key ingredient, along with besan and rice flours. Kara Seva is generally made during festivals, but can also be enjoyed as a tea time snack, as it goes well with milk-tea same like <a href=\"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/kerala-mixture\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kerala mixture<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n<p><b style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">Ingredients<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Besan \u00a0flour \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0:5 cups<\/li>\n<li>Rice flour\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 1 cup<\/li>\n<li>Chilli powder\u00a0 : 2Tsp<\/li>\n<li>Pepper powder\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 1 Tsp<\/li>\n<li>Garlic paste\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 2 T sp.<\/li>\n<li>Asfoetida\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 2 dashes<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric powder\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : \u00bc T sp.<\/li>\n<li>Butter \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 1 Tbl sp.<\/li>\n<li>Salt for taste<\/li>\n<li>Water for kneading the dough<\/li>\n<li>Oil for frying<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>Method<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mix all the ingredients using enough water to make soft yet firm dough.<\/li>\n<li>Heat a deep-bottom pan\/kadai with oil on medium high heat.<\/li>\n<li>Load the String Hopper maker with the dough and press it into the oil in a circular motion. Don\u2019t overcrowd the pan.<\/li>\n<li>Fry it till one side is done and flip over. When it is crispy take it out of the oil and place it on a paper towel and let the excess oil drain.
