It is usually served with oyster sauce because the sweetness of the sauce complements the slight bitter taste of the leaves. Here in this recipe I have this really nutritious vegetable prepared in traditional Kerala cheera-thoran-style. \u00a0Although the stem of this vegetable is thick, it doesn\u2019t take much time to cook once it is chopped fine, with cooking time less than ~ 5 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><b style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">Ingredients<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Chinese broccoli (Kai-lan)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 1 bunch<\/li>\n<li>Grated coconut\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : \u00bd cup<\/li>\n<li>Chilli powder\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : \u00bd T sp.<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric powder\u00a0\u00a0 : \u00bc T sp.<\/li>\n<li>Garlic\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 3 cloves<\/li>\n<li>Oil\u00a0\u00a0 : 2 T sp.<\/li>\n<li>Mustard seeds\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : \u00bc T sp.<\/li>\n<li>Dried chilly\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 2<\/li>\n<li>Salt for taste<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Chinese-Brocolli_2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1417\" alt=\"Chinese-Brocolli_2\" src=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Chinese-Brocolli_2.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Chinese-Brocolli_2.jpg 480w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Chinese-Brocolli_2-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Chinese-Brocolli_2-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">\u00a0<\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">Method<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mix the coconut along with the chilli and turmeric powder : May use a mixer and make a coarse mixture OR ELSE can mix everything with hands.<\/li>\n<li>In a kadai\/pan pour the oil and add the mustard seeds wait for it to splutter.<\/li>\n<li>Add the dried chilli and fry it.<\/li>\n<li>Add the finely chopped leaves along with the crushed garlic.<br \/>\nStir everything well and cook for ~2 minutes<\/li>\n<li>Add the coconut mixture along with salt and stir it well.<\/li>\n<li>Cook the leaves in a medium flame, No need to cover the pan for cooking.\u00a0Cook until the mix become dry.
