It is used to make various breakfast and snack verities in Kerala and other South Indian states. The recipe I share here uses fried aval which can be mixed with sugar, jaggery and nuts make a quick snack to go well with tea or coffee.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 14px;\">Aval (flattened rice) \u00a0 \u00a0 : 1 1\/2 cup<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Grated Coconut \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0: 1 cup<\/li>\n<li>Oil (Or Ghee) \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 : 1 1\/2 \u00a0T sp.<\/li>\n<li>Cadamon Powder \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 : 1 pinch<\/li>\n<li>Cashew nut &amp; raisins (Optional)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 14px;\">Keep a pan (kadai) on stove and pour the oil (ghee)<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Add the aval and fry it until it become crispy \u00a0in medium flame (about three minutes)<\/li>\n<li>Add the coconut and fry for about another 2 minutes<\/li>\n<li>Add the cadamon powder and mix well and take the kadai out of stove.<\/li>\n<li>Fry the nuts and raisins in little ghee or oil and garnish the fried aval.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Serve it with jaggery or sugar along with hot tea or coffee.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here is a quick snack recipe using aval. \u00a0Aval -Flattened rice (also called beaten rice)\u00a0is a dehusked rice which is flattened into light dry flakes.
