Idichakka is the tender form of Jackfruit and is used to make side dish for rice, by making a scramble of the same cooked with spices and coconut, popularly known in kerala as Idichakka thoran ((\u0d07\u0d1f\u0d3f\u0d1a\u0d4d\u0d1a\u0d15\u0d4d\u0d15 \u0d24\u0d4b\u0d30\u0d7b)).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0<b>Ingredients<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Idichakka \u00a0( ~4-5&#8243; size) : 1<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>Masala<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Grated coconut \u00a0 : 2 cups (adjust)<\/li>\n<li>Green Chilli\u00a0:\u00a05<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric powder : \u00bd Tsp<\/li>\n<li>Jeera \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0: 1\/2 Tsp<\/li>\n<li>Garlic\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 4 cloves<\/li>\n<li>Curry leaves<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>Seasoning<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Oil.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 : 2\u00a0Tbl-sp<\/li>\n<li>Mustard seeds : 1 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Curry leaves \u00a0: 2 strings<\/li>\n<li>Dry red chillies :\u00a0 4<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>Salt for taste<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>Method<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>De-skin the tender jackfruit to and cut to small pieces and wash well.<b><\/b><\/li>\n<li>Cook the tender jack fruit with enough water &amp; add salt<\/li>\n<li>Once it is cooked\u00a0 drain the water and rinse with water again<\/li>\n<li>Shred the cooked jack fruit to pieces in a mixie or food processor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Make a coarse mix masala ingredients 2 to\u00a06<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Keep a kadai on the stove<\/li>\n<li>Pour the oil and add the seasoning ingredients &amp; fry it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Add\u00a0 the jack fruit mix , \u00a0salt to taste and saut\u00e9 for minimum 5 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Then add the coconut mix and cover the kadai and let it cook on a low flame.<\/li>\n<li>After 3- 4 minutes\u00a0 uncover the kadai and saut\u00e9 for minute to make the final mix.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/idichakka-thoran\/idt\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3666\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3666\" src=\"http:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IDT.jpg\" alt=\"IDT\" width=\"640\" height=\"358\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IDT.jpg 640w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IDT-150x84.jpg 150w, https:\/\/pepper2salt.com\/sindhus-kitchen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IDT-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chakka -\u0d1a\u0d15\u0d4d\u0d15 (Jack fruit) is one of the common seasonal fruits of tropics and is very abundant in Kerala.
