Mint is one of the oldest and most popular herbs that is grown around the world and is an essential ingredient in much Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine. It is well known for its herbal benefits such as soothing the digestive tract, body cooling sensation, eliminating toxins from the body and also is a very good cleanser for the blood. Here is a quick and easy recipe for a great homemade soft drink with mint leaves. I have added some honey to this to partially substitute the need of extra sugar for the sweetness, which kids might prefer. Serve chilled as a dessert or just as a soft drink in summer time. You may use sparkling water (soda water) instead of plane water if you prefer to use it as a dessert.
Ingredients
- Lemon : 1
- Mint (Puthina leaves) : 13 leaves
- Honey : 1 T Sp.
- Water : 2 1/2 Cups
- Sugar : 5 T Sp.
Method
- Extract the juice from the lemon
- Blend all the ingredients together in a mixer/blender for 1 minute
- Filter out the residue fro the juice
Serve chilled
Note: Feel free to vary the quantity of mint leaves and sugar for individual’s preference/taste.
