A healthy snack/dessert dish option for sweet lovers. Here is a recipe for Ladoo/Ladu/Laddu – from multiple grains and sweated with palm jaggery. It is a perfect choice for low-calorie snack for children and elders. Can be preserved in normal temperature for 3-4 days and for weeks in refrigerator.
Ingredients
- Aval (flattened rice flakes) : 1 Cup
- Oats : 1 Cup
- Chia seed : 1 Cup
- Sesame seeds : 1 Cup
- Dalia split : 1 Cup
- Coconut : 3 Cup
- Palm jaggery : 250 g
- Water : 1 – 1 ¼ Cup
- Cardamom powder : ½ T – Sp
Method
- Heat a pan and dry roast each ingredient 1-6 separately in low/medium flame (about 4-5 minutes) and keep it separate.
- Keep the ¼ cup of roasted chia seed in a separate bowl.
- Make the syrup of palm jaggery into 1 ¼ cup of water. Filter it to remove solid impurities.
- Grind each ingredient (except coconut) separately into a powder (not too fine). Need not grind the coconut, you can put the grated coconut or just pulse it and add.
- In a big vessel, add all the powdered ingredients along with cardamom powder, and coconut.
- Mix it together with hands or a spatula.
- Add the warm palm jaggery syrup little by little and the same time mixe it with a spoon, until required enough to make the ladoos (mix it with your hands and try to make the balls, then stop adding the syrup).
- Mix everything very well and make medium sized Ladoo balls.
- Roll each Ladoos into the roasted chia seeds (we saved ¼ cup).
Notes :
- Can increase the quantity of coconut and jaggery if needed.
