A healthy way to celebrate a western holiday !!!…………. I made it first time for the Thanks Giving in 2012. The Indian touch of spices I used in this recipe gives a mouthwatering aroma and of course the wonderful taste. I propose to use this as a starter or a side dish. I used it with a bunch of potatoes i baked along with it as a dinner for the thanks giving….
Ingredients
- Chicken : 1 whole
- Chilli powder : 2 Tbl sp
- Pepper powder : 1 Tbl sp
- Turmeric powder : 1 T sp
- Ginger-garlic paste : 1 Tbl sp
- Oil : 1Tbl sp
- Lemon. : Of 1 full
- Garam masala : ½ T sp
- Salt for taste
Method
- Skin-out the whole chicken.
- Put deep gashes in between especially in the leg and breast parts, so the masala can easily penetrate in.
- Clean the chicken well and pat dry with a kitchen towel.
- Make a smooth paste of the above masala ingredients, and apply that into the chicken.
- Keep it for marinating; marinating is the main part. I would keep for marinating for minimum 8 hours.( first 6-7 hours in the refrigerator, and rest of the time in room temperature). Make sure you at least marinate for two hours.
- Preheat the oven 400 deg. F.
- Place the chicken in an oven safe dish or aluminum tray.
- Cover the tray with an aluminum foil, and bake for 1 hour,
- Take the chicken out and flip it, cover the chicken and bake for another 1 hour.
- Take out the oozed masala juice. (May use it as a gravy if you like)
- Finally broil the chicken for 10 minutes each side.
Tips:
- Baking time depends on the weight of the chicken, The time specified above are typical for 2 ½ kg chicken.
