Caramel Flan is a popular creamy custard dessert in Spain and Latin America. This easy make Egg Pudding is a dessert with a layer of clear caramel sauce, contrasted with crème brûlée which is custard with a hard caramel layer on top.
Ingredients
- Sugar : ¼ Cup
- Water : 1 Tbl- Sp.
- Condensed milk : ¼ Cup
- Milk 1 ½ Cup
- Egg : 2
- Vanilla essence : 1 T- Sp.
Method
- Caramelize the sugar in a saucepan over medium-low heat, melt sugar until liquefied and golden in color.
- Pour this caramel syrup into a bowl for steaming.
- Beat the eggs and keep it aside.
- In a saucepan, add milk along with condensed milk and boil it, stir it to avoid sticking in the pan.
- Wait to cool until lukewarm.
- Add the egg and vanilla essence into the milk and mix it.
- Filter the milk egg mixture and pour it to the top of the caramel syrup
- Close it with an aluminum foil and steam it for about 20 -25 min.
- Insert a tooth pick to check it’s cook or not, if the tooth pick is coming clean, it’s ready. Otherwise cook for a few more minutes.
- Once the Flan is cooled, run a knife on the edges to release it from the cooking vessel and flip to a serving plate
