Cutlet dishes are excellent choice for one dish balanced meal. Variety of cutlet preparation can be seen in International cuisines. Beef cutlet is a very common delicacy from Kerala Cristian cuisines prepared for festival occasions and family gatherings. Served with ketchup, it is a perfect choice for starter in party occasions.
Ingredients
- Boiled potatoes : 3 (medium)
- Finely chopped onion : 1.5 Cup
- Finely chopped green chilly : 5 ( adjust)
- Finely chopped curry leaves : 3 sprigs
- Pepper powder : 1 T-sp
- Turmeric powder : ¼ T-sp
- Garam masala : ¼ T-sp
- Oil : 1 Tbl-sp
- Ginger garlic paste : 1 Tbl-sp
- Salt for taste
For Meat:
- Beef : ½ kg
- Ginger garlic paste : 1.5 T-sp
- Turmeric powder : ¼ T-sp
- Pepper powder : 1 T-sp
- Salt for taste
For frying:
- Egg : 2
- Corn flour : 2 T-sp
- Bread crumbs : 1-1.5 cup
- Oil for frying
Method
- In a pressure cooker, add all the ingredients mentioned for meat and cook for about 6 whistles or until cooked well.
- Drain out any extra water in the beef and mince the meat in a food processor or mixer.
- Heat a kadai/ pan add the onion along with green chilli, ginger garlic paste ,salt and curry leaves, sauté it until the onion became translucent .
- Then add the pepper powder and turmeric powder; mix it well.
- Add the minced meat, mix it well for about 1 minute.
- Take the pan from the stove and let it cool .
- Once cooled, add the smashed potatoes, mix everything well with hands for getting everything together, check the salt and spices. If needed can add salt and pepper powder at this stage.
- In a bowl add the egg along with corn flour and mix well.
- Take a big lemon size cutlet mixture and make it to desired shape.
- Dip the cutlet into the egg mixture and then cover the cutlet with the bread crumbs.
- In a kadai/ pan add enough oil to fry the cutlet. Once hot, reduce the flame to medium & Fry the cutlet into dark brown color.
Tips:
Make sure no water content in the meet before mincing.
Egg white or full egg can be used, I used full egg .
Bread crumbs quantity may vary.
