Sesame seed is a good source of minerals such as Calcium, Iron, Magnesium and Phosphorus, and also good source of Copper an Manganese. It is also a source for some phyto-nutrients such as omega-6 fatty acids, flavonoid phenolic anti-oxidants, vitamins and dietary fiber with potent anti-cancer as well as health promoting properties. It is very low in Cholesterol and Sodium.
Ingredients:
1. Ellu (Sesame) : 2 Cup
2. Coconut : 1 Cup
3. Jaggery : ½ Cup
4. Cardamom Powder : ½ Tsp.
5. Ghee : 1 Tsp.
Method:
- Heat the Kadai and add the sesame seeds and dry roast till it splutters.
- Move the roasted seeds, to a wider plate (so that we can mix it easily later.
- Add the Ghee to kadai and put the coconut and fry it for 3-4 minutes.
- Crush the fried sesame seeds slightly in a Mixer, ( just to split each seed to 2-3 pieces)
- Boil the crushed Jaggery in 3 Tbl-spoon water to make it as a syrup (Sarkara paani)
- Mix all the items in the wide plate with the syrup, before the syrup becomes cold.
- Make balls of the mix with hand.
