Chilli Fish, another popular Indian Chinese dish !… It can be made with fillet of any hard flush fish meat like tilapia or salmon. The dish makes excellent finger snack with as starter or can be served as a side dish with Asian main course of rice or noodles. The typical recipe is with flour or maida or corn mixed with egg, but in this preparation I avoided those add-ins to make it more of a healthy diet.
Ingredients
For frying fish(step1):-
- Fish : 1 kg
- Chilli powder : 1 ½ TbL sp.
- Turmeric powder : ½ T sp.
- Ginger garlic paste : 2 T sp.
- Pepper powder : 1 T sp.
- Salt for taste
- Oil for frying
For sautéing (step2):-
- Onion : 2
- Bell pepper/ capsicum : 2
- Spring /green onion : 3 stems
- Ginger garlic paste : 2 Tbl sp.
- Soy sauce : 1 ½ T sp.
- Chilli sauce : 2 T sp.
- Pepper powder : 1 T sp.
- Chilli powder : 1 Tsp
Method
- Marinate the fish with the step 1 ingredients except oil, for an hour .
- Cut the onion and capsicum in square pieces and cut the spring onion into small pieces.
- In a kadai / pan add enough oil and shallow fry the fish.
- Move the fish to another bowl.
- In the same pan, add the enough oil and add the onion along with ginger garlic paste and sauté for ~3 minutes.
- Add the soy sauce, chilli sauce pepper powder and chilli powder.
- Add salt at this point.
- Then add the capsicum and sauté for another 2 minutes
- Add the spring onion and sauté it for another 1 minute
- Add the fried fish and mix it carefully.
Tips:
Quantity of ingredients /oil may vary individual taste..
Quantity of oil may vary individual taste. I used only 3Tbsp oil for the entire cooking.
